What is My Social Housing?

We’re the UK’s only Social Housing property app, scanning over 1000 Social Housing Providers immediately available homes. My Social Housing can help you ‘find your happy and permanent home’. 

Is My Social Home an Estate Agent?

My Social Home is not an estate agent, so we're unable to let or sell a property on your behalf. Instead, My Social Home is a key resource for anyone looking to rent or buy a property within Social Housing. We showcase the largest selection of properties for social rent within the UK. 

What type of homes do we advertise?

Did you know that we don’t just show you social homes to rent? We also advertise affordable ownership to help you get on the property ladder.

I'm interested in a property, what do I do next?

That's great you've found a property you're interested in. To find out more about the property, click “register interest” on the property page. We will contact your referring agent to see if you are in Housing Need. It may help if you contact your referring agent and advise them to respond to the My Social Home Team to speed up the process. 

What is a My Social Home account?

My Social Home will make your home hunting easy and help you find a permanent home. It’s also something that will save you a lot of time.

With a My Social Home account you can:

  • Set up alerts to notify you of new and reduced properties.
  • Save your favourite properties to a shortlist 
  • Save your family composition so we know what size property you are looking for

How do I change my contact details and email? 

You can add and change your contact details, email in your “MSH Profile “section of the app

  • Sign in (if you haven't already)
  • Click on 'MSH Profile” option. 
  • Click the relevant tab in the 'Account details' section to make your changes; Update contact details, 
  • change your email and click “Save Profile”

How do I change my password?

You can change your password in “settings” of the app.

  • Sign in (if you haven't already)
  • Click on 'Settings” option 
  • Click the relevant tab in the “Change Password” section to make your changes; and click “Change Password”

How will I know if I’ve been successful for a property? 

The My Social Housing Team will contact you if you have been successful to view a property. Please do not contact the team to chase an outcome. If you have not been contacted within 2 weeks, this means you was not shortlisted for a viewing. 

Do I need to pay advance rent?

Housing Associations now charge rent in advance.  This can be 1-4 weeks rent. My Social Housing Team will work with the referring agent to try and recover these costs for you. If your referring agent does not provide funding to help with your move, then you will have to cover these costs. 

Will the properties come furnished? 

Social Housing homes usually come unfurnished. It will be down to you to decorate and furnish your new home. 

Who do I contact to check the progress of my homeless application? 

Your homeless application is with the Local Authority. My Social Housing Team has no impact on your homeless application and cannot chase outcomes for you.  Please contact your Local Authority directly for updates.
